DOT 8 : DROWSY

Daniel (7+ years old)

It’s only migraine...
Mom repeated unnecessarily.
Was it her imagination or did the sound of that word “migraine” sound unreal even to your mother’s own ears?
We collected our medication and went home. Your condition appeared stable at the hospital, and the doctor did not have any cause to suspect that something was amiss.
We were not aware that the naughty cell was taking a short break ...
At home, Mom put You to bed after sponging You and putting on some clean clothes on You. You were very tired and You slept immediately. The medication too could have made You a little drowsy.
Justine went to bed early that evening as well. The both of You shared a room at the time. Mom dimmed the lights, and just sat by your bedside, watching You both sleep. Dad came back late that night, planted a kiss on both of your foreheads.

The next day, You woke up with a bad headache. The pain had not lessened. By noon, You threw up again, violently, and before we could clean You up, yet another time.
Dad and Mom bundled You up and sped to Subang Jaya Medical Center. You were born there and your medical record was there.
We didn’t know where else to go.
At Genting Highlands. You were 4 and Justine 5 years old.
