DOT 141 : IRONIC

THE FINAL CHAPTER : A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY (Sept 2009 to Jan 2010)
At the Grotto of Our Immaculate Conception, in Lourdes
Daniel (14+ years old) (Saturday 19/9/2009)
Day 10 in Lourdes
NOVENA DAY 2

Back at the hotel, Uncle Peter and Aunt Laura raised looks of wonderment when they saw You.
They could see an immediate difference in You, and commented in surprise that You were looking "so good" and "much, much better than the day before."
Even Dad and Mom could see the difference.
We were humbled by your progress. You were alert and chatty, whilst the day before, You went straight to the room to sleep. Or rather, to ease the head pains.
You were chatting to Justine online then, sitting on a chair at the dining hall. Like your normal self. You were able to raise your head more than the day before, although You said it still felt "weird."
The hotel guests, looking at You, would never have guessed that this "tall boy with the nice smile" was seriously battling a life-threatening disease and that his young life was about to come to an end in just about 4 months' time.
Nobody could have predicted that.
Not Dad.
Nor Mom.
Not Uncle Peter.
Nor Aunt Laura.
Not anyone.
Least of You.
Aunt Laura couldn't wait to ask You how your day went. Mom just watched on with an overwhelming surge of happiness in her heart to see You looking so well.
If she didn't know any better, she would have thought You were glowing with perfect health.
How ironic.

Photo taken on Sept 29, 2009. Aunty D took this photo of us.
She was with us for 4 days.
2 days You were well, and the other 2 not so.
